The Tiger

The video says it is all and it is amusing on one level in that it exposes the foolishness of photo-sessions with tigers. I don't know where it was made. It looks like India or somewhere in Asia. Correction : it is Thailand.  The whole thing is rather sick to me. Correction: very sick, sad and pathetic. I feel for the tiger. The tiger used as a prop is sick. The tiger is prodded to animate him, which is also sick.  Please can people stop doing this kind of exploitative behavior? Can humans please stop exploiting tigers and just give them enough space and then leave them alone. For Pete's sake.

Screenshot This is an interesting video which shows young men in India approaching a tiger in the undergrowth, in the forest, and then they watch it cross the road and disappear. They want to get nearer to the tiger to get a video of it. The person who tweeted the video described it as "wired" behaviour. What they mean is that these young men are performing stereotypical young men behaviour in approaching a tiger because they want to capture that all-important video. It is hardwired into the brains of young men particularly to behave in this sort of macho, excitable way. But the person who made the tweet stated that this is bad behaviour because the tiger doesn't want to attract the attention of young Indian men and if the men approach too much and if the tiger feels threatened, it may attack. And in any case, this is an example where the tiger should be left alone in their own habitat to live their lives the way they want to live it. It is the way you create harmony betw...

INDIA: Okay, a bird is an animal but you get the point. It is both a neat but brutal video. Fortunately, the magnificent Indian peafowl, Pavo cristatus , escaped the equally magnificent 'Royal Bengal tiger' aka the Bengal tiger. Not sure why they bother to call it royal. Technically this is a Bengal tiger. The bird and cat are bound to meet from time to time in India. The Bengal tiger is critically endangered. Its population - mainly in India - is pretty stable but very low. You can find out all you want about the Bengal tiger on this website so please feel free to search.  I will dip my toe into information about the Indian peafowl. It is also known as the common peafowl and blue peafowl. It is native to the Indian subcontinent. Although it has been introduced to many other countries. The male of the species is referred to as a peacock and the female is referred to as a peahen. Colloquially they are both referred to as peacocks. Bengal tiger attacks India's national bird t...

The tweet states that other than humans the tiger is the only predator of the elephant but of course it has to be a baby elephant. Tigers are famous for killing any animal that puts themselves in a vulnerable position. Few animals are immune to tiger predation. Tigers do kill animals that are considerably larger than themselves such as water buffalo but there are records of tigers being killed by these animals after a long and deadly struggle. Adult rhinoceroses and elephants are rarely killed. But they are killed sometimes and, certainly rarely, a baby elephant is killed as evidenced in this video. Tiger with an elephant calf kill. A very rare happening, but can happen in the wild. Other than humans, tiger happens to be the only predator that attacks the elephant in India. Normally they don’t attack adult elephant, but they do follow herds with juvenile elephants. This is a really nice video of tiger siblings playing. It is the same as domestic cats playing but scaled up tremendously! This is a Twitter tweet and sometimes these videos stop working because Twitter likes to attract people to their website so they provide a link instead of the video which forces people to go to their website. If that has happened, I'm sorry but I have no control over it.  Bengal tiger siblings playing. I hope that you enjoy the video. It is on a loop and therefore a keeps playing over and over again. The text in the tweet provides the information that you need. It is a positive slice of news regarding tiger conservation. News regarding the conservation of the tiger is normally negative I have to add. And overall, if we take decades of information and going forward, the news will be negative because it is becoming harder and harder to protect the tiger and, in this case, we are referring to the Bengal tiger in India. Watching these siblings play in loop 💕 Just ...

I believe that you can answer the question in the title quite scientifically. I'll try. We know how domestic cats play. The domestic cat is a domesticated North African wildcat. The wildcat is just another species of wild cat as is the tiger. So inherent in all wild cat species is the ability to enjoy playing. It doesn't matter whether you are a huge tiger or a small wildcat in Africa. To repeat, it is innate in them to enjoy playing. This is because it's both entertaining and a form of play-hunting. Note: the scientific books on the tiger don't mention playing. We have rely on YouTube and common sense! Big Cat Rescue white tiger playing. Video screenshot. It's a substitute for hunting. And this is probably another point worth making. You will see tigers playing, as you can see in the video, in captivity. In fact zookeepers are obliged to find ways to encourage their tigers to enjoy playing because it's the only way they can substitute the natural behaviour of h...
