How often do tigresses become pregnant?

Image
Another similar question would be how often do tigresses become sexually receptive? And to answer to both questions, on my research, female tigers produce a litter every two years. As a consequence, mating opportunities for male tigers are limited because in areas where there is plenty of prey, tigresses are usually pregnant or accompanied by dependent young. She is not receptive to male advances and therefore she may be sexually receptive only once every two years. Further, anestrus can be environmentally induced. In subtropical and tropical parts of the world tigers may mate and give birth at any time of the year. However, in Siberia, Siberian tigers appear to be seasonal breeders. For this species of tiger there may be a seven or eight month anestrous between breeding seasons. When the female tiger comes into heat sh...

Do male tigers kill female tigers?

Image
The question is: "Do male tigers killed tigresses?" And the answer, in my considered opinion, is different when referring to wild tigers or captive tigers, which points to the source of what might be considered aberrant behaviour. If you have a different viewpoint, please comment and provide science in support please. I love good contributions. It seems like male tigers have a harem of females within their orbit. Consequently, there are no fights over territory between males and females, as I understand it. Clearly, fights over territory can result in the death of one tiger. Also, male tigers sometimes fight over access to a female, but this is a male-on-male fight. I have read through a lar...

Tiger Copulation

Image
The tigress kisses the tiger - bites him gently - turns, rubs her body against his, raises her tail, and finally presents herself by sitting with fore-limbs fully extended and hind-legs more that half-bent. The tiger mounts her in a half-knees-bent position without putting any pressure on her body and she emits low, deep "Oaar oaaa" sounds. As the act comes to a climax, the tiger lowers his head and grips the skin folds of her neck firmly but carefully; this position helps both to achieve proper orientation at the time of the climax. The tiger then gives the peculiar high-pitched squeal..., the tigress growls, and finally gives a sudden jerk to dislodge the male. She turns round to face the tiger and starts boxing. I argue fair use on the basis that it promotes the work and is educational. The excerpt is short and has no detrimental effect on...
